  • I accept the Bible as the Word of God.
  • I witness to a personal and present faith in Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior.
  • I desire and am seeking to live a holy life, apart from sin and separated unto Christ.
  •  I desire and will earnestly seek to be loyal to this local congregation.
  • I am open to instruction and teaching in biblical truth.
  • I will support and sustain the services of the congregation by regular attendance and prayers.
  •  I will contribute to the work of God through this congregation.
  •  I will foster a spirit of Christian fellowship and unity within the congregation.

 

 Helpful expansion and application of the membership covenant:

 

Because I affirm my belief that the Bible is the Word of God and that it has been given to assist in my spiritual transformation, and because I affirm that I am open to instruction and teaching in biblical truth, I will endeavor to:

 

  •  Read the Bible regularly for myself,
  • Give attention to opportunities for biblical education and instruction and,
  •  Apply its teaching to my life.

     Because I affirm my desire and my intention to live a holy life, apart from sin and   
     separated unto Christ, I will endeavor to:

 

  • Pursue a deeper understanding of God’s Word as noted above,
  • Pursue a closer relationship with God through prayer,
  • Develop spiritual disciplines that will aid my spiritual transformation such as worship, stewardship, service to others, etc.,
  • Apply biblical teachings to my life,
  • Seek to live a life of obedience and confession, and
  • Make choices that honor God. 

     Some issues involved with seeking a holy life in Jesus Christ are:  

  • Forgiving those who have wronged us.
  • Resolving or attempting to resolve strained relationships in our lives.
  • Being willing to serve rather than be served.
  • Treating our bodies with appropriate honor and respect.
  • Avoiding language, choices, lifestyles, decisions, etc., that are not appropriate for people who desire to be fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ and live a holy life.

     Because I affirm my desire to be loyal and supportive of the congregation, its leadership,
     and its ministries, I will endeavor to:

 

  • Be in agreement with and supportive of the purpose, mission, and vision
    of the congregation.
  • Be faithful and regular in the corporate worship services of the congregation.
  • Be faithful and regular in the stewardship of my life, including my time, gifts
    and abilities by being involved in attending and serving in the ministries
    of the congregation, so that I might help others come to a personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Be faithful and regular in the stewardship of my possessions and income by giving proportionately and sacrificially to the work of God through the local congregation.
