Name:  Linda Lambert

I came to this church and this area from Hamilton, Ontario, Canada in July, 2003 with my husband, John.  Sadly, John passed away on February 9, 2008 after a lengthy battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS)... or Lou Gehrig's Disease.

Family:   I have two adult children living in Canada. My daughter, Kel, is married to Steve and they have produced two beautiful and delightful grandchildren, Nadine Elyse (born December 7, 2004) and Callum John (born July 26, 2007).  They also have a large red dog, a Boxer/Lab cross, named Shelby.
My son, Matt, is married to Stephanie.  Matt is a Licensed Auto Mechanic (something his mother really appreciates, especially when the car makes a "funny" noise).  He is preparing to launch into his second career as a Respiratory Therapist.  Stephanie is a second grade Teacher.  They enjoy their medium sized dog, an Australian Shepherd mix, named Coco.
I love our family get-togethers.  We can really "raise the roof" when all the extended family, children, grandchildren and dogs celebrate our reunions.

Pets: I have an apricot-colored Miniature Poodle, named Bella, who has a very sweet personality.  Having been rescued as a 4 year old from a puppy mill in October, 2006, she's a little timid when it comes to new situations and people, so those family gatherings can be a bit intimidating for her. However, Bella is great company and she loves to travel in the car, which is a good thing since it takes about 7 1/2 to 8 hours to get to family in Canada.  Besides dancing like a "bella"rina for a snack, Bella's favorite thing to do is to run at top speed, several times around the shed, ears flying in the wind, then come to a halting stop.

Hobbies/Interests:  I find pleasure in home improvement projects, exploring antique shops, craft shows, knitting, and spending time with family and friends.  I am maintaining (with the help of friends) a bit of a flower garden around the house.  I now have a nice retreat in the backyard and often relax in the patio with a glass of iced tea. I also love to fish, especially when the Bass are biting.

Favorite food: I enjoy a wide variety of foods, especially Italian and Chinese.   I really like shellfish: lobster, shrimp, scallops and smoked oysters.

Favorite movies:  I prefer to watch classic movies and musicals, and adventure films such as Calamity Jane, Funny Girl, Funny Lady, Yentl, White Christmas, Dave, Mr. Holland’s Opus, Hook, and Pirates of the Caribbean.  I also enjoy romantic comedies/dramas, such as While You Were Sleeping, One Fine Day, The American President, Sleepless in Seattle, You’ve Got Mail, and Return to Me.  I’ve grown to really like animated features such as An American Tale, Monsters, Inc., Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, Shark Tale and Chicken Run.

Favorite books:  Two of my favorite books are Elie Wiesel’s, Night, and Charles Dickens’, The Chimes.  Most of the time, I read practical books for information and education, often related to ministry.  Recently I have read Simple Church by Thom S. Rainer, Leading Beyond the Walls by Adam Hamilton, Love and Respect by Dr. Emerson Eggerichs, Leading from the Second Chair by Mike Bonem and Roger Patterson, The Incendiary Fellowship by Elton Trueblood, and The Way of a Worshiper by Buddy Owens.  Just for fun and relaxation, I read home decorating magazines such as Canadian Living and Better Homes and Gardens. My most recent reads have been Compassionate Caregiving by Lois D. Knutson, The Missional Leader by Alan J. Roxurgh (one of my former professors) and Fred Romanuk, Don't Sing Songs to a Heavy Heart by Kenneth C. Haugk, Spiritual Care: A Guide for Caregivers by Judith Allen Shelly, Change is Like a Slinky and The Ten Top Mistakes Leaders Make both by Hans Finzel.

Favorite TV shows:  Dancing With The Stars

Currently listening to:  I like listening to all kinds of music.  I have a fondness for the Beatles, the Bee Gees, the Beach Boys, Eric Clapton, Celine Dion, Barbra Streisand, Deborah Klassen (a Canadian Christian artist), and contemporary worship leaders and singers such as Darlene Zschech and Point of Grace.  My car radio is usually tuned to Smooth Jazz FM 92.7

Favorite place in the world:  My most favorite spot was my grandparents’ cottage on Trout Lake near North Bay, Ontario.   It was a bit rustic with an outhouse and only cold running water, but a fun place to be.  My favorite memory is of the times my grandmother and I would pick wild raspberries together and then make the absolutely best tasting jam ever.

I love to be near water.  As a child, I lived on both coasts of Canada, in Comox, British Columbia and Summerside, Prince Edward Island, so the love of water was implanted early in my life.  Another favorite place of mine is Camp Kahquah, the Brethren in Christ camp in Magnetawan, Ontario, Canada on Ahmic Lake (www.campkahquah.com).  I love the smell of Pine trees in the summer and how the sun breaks through the branches mid afternoon fracturing the sun’s rays.  I love sitting in a boat on a lake in northern Ontario, with my fishing line in the water and a Small Mouth Bass on the hook.  I enjoy fall fairs, and picking apples in the orchard.  I love to be in the middle of a snow blizzard, shoveling snow or curled up by a fireplace (or someplace warm) with a book, watching snow flakes fall.  I enjoy walking in the woods in the spring, inhaling the fresh air and looking at all the new growth the warmer weather brings.

Something interesting about me that most people don't know:  As a teen I taught myself to play the guitar and led a folk singing group in nursing school.

Guilty Pleasures:  Chocolate chip cookies, peanut and plain M & Ms.  I crave anything chocolate.  I can go for an afternoon at Borders reading decorating magazines and sipping hot chocolate, anytime.
