Have You Heard The Buzz?

The rumors are true! The Youth Ministry Leadership Team and I have been working on developing the next mile of the journey for the 6th - 12th grade students here at CBIC and in our community. It is my heart to see believers continue on their journey in faith to discover who God is and who he desires us to be as followers of Christ. I am deeply convicted that God shares with us in his word that we are to aim daily in living for God, loving like God, growing in God, and sharing about God. What will the next mile of the journey consist of? I’m so glad you asked! In May, the Church Board allocated funds to the youth ministry team to develop a “Middle School Ministry” and a “High School Ministry” out of the current “Youth Ministry” here at CBIC.

Beginning in September, both ministries will have their own identities (like our children’s ministry has Kidmunity as its identity) and both will have up-to-date, active websites for teens, parents and youth staff to utilize in keeping up with the latest news, information, resources and stories of what God is doing in and through our teens. Youth group will still meet on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 - 8:00 PM for both groups, which will begin to meet separately from each other. Electives will be offered on Sunday mornings where teens will be able to choose which class they would like to attend on a quarterly basis. It is our intention as a ministry in the coming months to develop D-Groups (discipleship small groups) and Timothy Teams (ministry teams) to aid in training and equipping our teens in finding their God-given gifts and talents and put them into practice for God. Classroom space for both ministries will be repainted and new décor, furniture, and audio/visual equipment will be placed in these rooms. Also, the multi-purpose room walls and floor will be repainted to accommodate a more youthful feel while keeping the integrity of the use for other church-wide events. Keep your eyes open, because all of this will happen right before our eyes beginning in early July. We will be ready to unveil the next mile of the Middle and High School Ministries with the teens on Wednesday, September 3 and with the church family on Sunday, September 7.
